Amigos en Azul’s Annual Shop with a Cop is in full swing for the 2025 Holiday Season! Each year, Austin Police (APD) officers and officers from our partner agencies come to the Target Capital Plaza and recently added, the Target Southpark Meadows, to shop with children from Title 1 Austin Independent School District (AISD) schools. Each child is given a specific dollar amount to spend on themselves or their family members. Many times, the officers they are shopping with spend a good amount of their own money to help these families even more.

Shop with a Cop started with a small group of Amigos members taking a few children in their sector shopping during the holiday season. The event has grown significantly, gaining Target as a primary sponsor through their Hero’s & Helpers program. The event pairs an underprivileged and at-risk child with a law enforcement officer for a shopping spree leading up to the Holiday season. The goal for this experience of shopping for toys alongside a new "Amigo en Azul” is to help each child create a positive view of law enforcement and to create a bridge among the community we serve. Amigos en Azul is the largest Shop with a Cop in Texas, raising over $35,000 to sponsor 200 children with participating law enforcement agencies all over central Texas.
