The City of Austin, in partnership with Measure and the Austin AI Alliance, will host Community in the Loop on Nov. 19, 2025. The event invites residents to learn about artificial intelligence (AI), share their perspectives and help shape how the City uses AI responsibly.
The event is part of Austin’s Open Government Partnership (OGP) commitment to co-create an AI Accountability Framework that ensures fairness, transparency and community trust in City-operated AI systems. Attendees will hear an overview of the City’s work with AI, learn the basics in an “AI 101” session and participate in a community listening session.
“Artificial intelligence is reshaping how cities serve their communities, and Austin is taking a proactive approach,” said Daniel Culotta, Assistant Director of Budget and Organizational Excellence for the City of Austin.
“Our role in this work is to ensure that community voices and lived experiences guide how the City approaches AI,” said Meme Styles, Founder and President of Measure. “As community members and researchers leading the listening sessions, we’re helping build a foundation of accountability and trust in how technology serves Austin’s people.”
“The Austin AI Alliance is proud to partner with the City to bring together leaders across sectors and advance responsible, inclusive AI for all Austinites,” said Sean Bauld, Executive Director of the Austin AI Alliance.
The Community in the Loop series includes three public sessions designed to keep residents “in the loop” as Austin develops its approach to emerging technology.
