The deadline to submit applications is by the end of the day, Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025.

AUSTIN, Texas –  Austin Public Health is accepting applications from individuals interested in serving on the Community Development Commission (CDC). To be eligible, individuals must be 18 years of age or older, live within the geographic area assigned for that seat and have an interest in serving individuals and families living in poverty.

Austin Public Health, as an official Community Action Agency for Austin and Travis County, administers the Community Services Block Grant. The CDC advises the council in the development and implementation of programs designed to serve the poor and the community at large with emphasis on federally funded programs.
 
The Board is composed of 15 members: seven members nominated by a council committee or council committees and appointed by council and eight members democratically selected to represent residents from each of the eight geographic areas of Travis County to represent low-income individuals eligible to be served under the Community Services Block Grant in each area.
 
Applications will be accepted for Representative(s) of Low-Income Individuals and families in the following areas:

  • North Austin
  • St. John
  • Colony Park
  • Rosewood-Zaragosa/Blackland
  • East Austin
  • Montopolis
  • South Austin
  • Dove Springs

Election Process
 
CDC Elections will be held on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the following polling locations:

  • North Austin - Gus Garcia Recreation Center – 1201 E Rundberg Ln., Austin, 78753
  • St. John - St. John Community Center - 7500 Blessing Ave. Austin, 78752
  • Colony Park – Turner-Roberts Recreation Center – 7201 Colony Loop Dr., Austin, 78724
  • Rosewood-Zaragosa/Blackland – Givens Recreation Center – 3811 East 12th St., Austin, 78721
  • East Austin – East Austin Neighborhood Center – 211 Comal St., Austin, 78702
  • Montopolis – Montopolis Recreation and Community Center – 1200 Montopolis Dr., Austin, 78741
  • South Austin – South Austin Recreation Center – 1100 Cumberland Rd., Austin, 78704
  • Dove Springs – Dove Springs Public Health Center – 5811 Palo Blanco Ln., Austin, 78744

Each election site will have paper ballots available with the names of the candidates for each area.
