Historic Bathhouse Restored and Partially Reopened

We will partially reopen the Joan Means Khabele Bathhouse at Barton Springs Pool on October 28, 2025.

Austin Parks and Recreation will partially reopen the Joan Means Khabele Bathhouse at Barton Springs Pool on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. At that time, the temporary restroom and shower trailers that have been in use will close.

Map of Current Modified Entrance to Barton Springs Pool

The partial opening includes the restroom and shower spaces within the building. Entry to the pool will move to the east side and entry to the restrooms and showers will be from the pool side of the building.

The front parking lot will also reopen, with the exception of a small area on the west side that will remain fenced off for ongoing construction work. The building main entry at the rotunda and site work on the west side will remain closed to the public for construction.

For hours of operation and more information about Barton Springs Pool, visit austintexas.gov/bartonsprings. For more information about the rehabilitation project, visit austintexas.gov/bathhouse-rehab.
