PROGRAMS/EVENTS

Stitch In Time Club (All Ages) - Final Fridays – 2pm-4pm & Second Saturdays – 11am-1pm

Join us for our Stitch in Time Club, a bimonthly gathering where community, creativity, and history come together through textile arts. Hosted by the Susanna Dickinson Museum and O. Henry Museum, this stitching circle celebrates the timeless traditions of fiber crafts—honoring the role of textiles in everyday life and history.

Textile Workshops (Ages 8+) - Offered as scheduled

Learn the basics of knitting, crochet, embroidery, weaving, and more. These hands-on workshops are great for beginners and anyone curious about textile traditions.

19th Century Skills (All Ages) - Offered as scheduled

Step into the past with our 19th Century Skills workshops. Participants can try their hand at drop-spindling, toy making, candle-making, and butter-making. These engaging sessions bring history to life through fun, tactile experiences that are perfect for all ages.

Texas Independence Day - Annually in March

Celebrate the museum’s anniversary with special activities and free programs, every year on March 2nd.

Austin Museum Day (All Ages) – Annually in September

Austin Museum Day is a community event which offers free admission and includes special programs and activities at museums and cultural institutions across the area. Austin Museum Day is held on the penultimate (second to last) Sunday of the month of September

Texana at Twilight - Annually in October

An evening author talk featuring a notable Texas writer, hosted at the French Legation each fall.

Gingerbread History Heroes - Annually in December

Decorate an ornament inspired by a Texas hero—like Sam Houston or Lydia Mendoza! Free supplies are available at participating locations throughout the city.
