Suspect Arrested Following Sexual Assault Investigation at Copperfield Park

Location: 1425 E. Yager Lane (Copperfield Park)
Suspect (arrested): Jacoby Duane Lacy, Black male, 24 years old
On Monday, June 1, 2026, at approximately 12:42 p.m., Austin Police (APD) officers responded to a report of an assault involving an elderly woman who was walking her dog in the Copperfield Park area. The victim reported that an unknown male approached her and engaged her in conversation. During the encounter, the suspect exposed himself and made inappropriate comments toward the victim. When the victim attempted to leave, the suspect followed her and made unwanted sexual physical contact.
Officers quickly located and detained the suspect, identified as Jacoby Duane Lacy. Detectives from the Austin Police (APD) Sex Crimes Unit responded to the scene to begin an investigation, with assistance from the Austin Forensic Science Crime Scene Specialists for evidence collection. Search warrants were obtained and executed as part of the ongoing investigation.
Based on the investigation, Lacy was booked into the Travis County Jail and charged with:
- Indecent Assault- Class A Misdemeanor
- Indecent Exposure- Class B Misdemeanor
- Attempted Aggravated Sexual Assault- 2nd degree felony
Additionally, on June 2, 2026, Lacy was charged in a separate investigation involving another female victim. This incident occurred on the morning of May 15, 2026, when the suspect allegedly exposed himself to an adult female and her child at the same park. As a result, he faces additional charges, including:
- Indecent Exposure- Class B Misdemeanor
- Indecency with a Child – 3rd degree felony
