Planned Outage Notice

The City’s AB+C Portal will be unavailable from 8 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, through 7 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12, as the site undergoes a major update. The new software will go live on Monday, Aug. 12 at 7 a.m. As this project progresses, we will share updates in the Doing Business During the AB+C Portal Outage section at the bottom of this webpage.

Austin Build + Connect (AB+C) is the City's online portal that allows registered users to apply for some permits, schedule inspections, pay fees, upload project attachments, and more. The AB+C User Manual (PDF) provides guidance on how to sign up, apply for permits, pay fees, schedule inspections, and more.

The portal's Public Search function is available to search permits and case history (and does not require registration). The Public Search Manual (PDF) provides guidance on performing searches and navigating results.

Types of applications on AB+C

Below are the application types currently available on the AB+C Portal as of September 2023. Portal application types include applications from Development Services and other City departments.

Development Services provides applications for many more types of permits that are not yet submittable through the portal. Visit the Types of Permits webpage for a complete list and instructions on how to apply.

Doing Business During the AB+C Portal Outage

Information on ways to do business while the AB+C Portal is unavailable will be added here.

Read this important update to learn more about the outage.

Bill Payment and Cashier Services

Payments can be made during the outage in person at the Permitting and Development Center or by phone. Visit the Bill Payment and Cashier Services webpage for more details on those payment options.

Schedule a Building Inspection

Building inspections can be scheduled by phone during the outage.

Please follow these steps or visit our Schedule a Building Inspection webpage for further details:

  1. Get an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) PIN. You will need to complete an Inspection Agent Letter of Authorization and Request for IVR PIN Number form and email it to building.inspections@austintexas.gov. Our team will respond and assign you a PIN. If you already have a PIN, but cannot locate it, please email building.inspections@austintexas.gov and the team will retrieve it for you.
  2. Gather Your Permit Number and Inspection Code. These numbers are located on your permit so please either write them down or print the permit prior to 8 a.m. on Aug. 8. The permit number is 10 digits and the inspection code is 3 digits.
  3. Call Interactive Voice Response at 512-974-9405. Choose the option to either schedule or reschedule your inspection and enter the requested information. Please be aware that phone requests do incur a delay in reaching our inspectors so avoid rescheduling an inspection on the same day it is set to occur. If your IVR PIN is not functional, please email building.inspections@austintexas.gov
