Family Engagement

Our Family Program at CYD is dedicated to fostering strong family connections and engagement. Recognizing the crucial role that families and caregivers play in the lives of youth, we actively involve them through community engagement and family-focused events. By integrating their voices and experiences, we ensure our activities, such as family nights and youth-led discussions, are meaningful and supportive. Utilizing the Keep Connected Family Program, we focus on strengthening family bonds, improving communication, and providing essential resources. This holistic approach creates opportunities for families to connect, learn, and grow together, contributing to the overall success and well-being of our youth.

Youth Advisory Committee (YAC)

Under CYD, the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is made up of youth between the ages of 13-17 who live or attend school in the 78744 area only. As part of YAC, the youth engage in leadership activities every month. This portion of the YAC is called Youth Leadership Development (YLD). These teens serve as the "youth voice" of the 78744 community and work with the CCC to establish the vision of the local program. The YAC provides community outreach to publicize program services while emphasizing the perspective and needs of the youth population. At least two YAC members sit on the CCC. The two groups work in partnership to ensure a youth perspective regarding the effectiveness of programs in meeting identified needs and gaps in services.

Please watch a video from our YAC awardee for the 2022 Outstanding Youth Award, we are so proud of Gabriel!
