Background

The City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department is excited to partner with Austin Parks Foundation to renovate the Montopolis Neighborhood Park playground. Engagement for the Montopolis Pool Project highlighted the need for improved drainage and updated amenities at the playground. Austin Parks Foundation led efforts for engagement and planning for the updated play area.

Project Description

Austin Parks Foundation led the playground project, aiming to include new play equipment, play surfacing, improved drainage, concrete walks, seating, shade, and nature play elements. 

Anticipated Timeline

The playground construction will occur at the same time as the pool renovations.

  • Concept Design and Community Engagement: Fall 2023 (completed)
  • Permitting: Winter 2023 to Fall 2024 (completed)
  • Construction: December 2024 to Summer 2026
  • Anticipated completion: Summer 2026
