Case: 25-2150260
Date: August 3, 2025
Time: 3:23 a.m.
Location: 4800 Burnet Rd.
Suspect: Darien Bowyer, White male, 23 years old
On Sunday, August 3, 2025, at approximately 3:23 a.m., Austin 9-1-1 received a call about a vehicle that crashed into a restaurant located at 4800 Burnet Rd. The caller reported that a vehicle had been speeding and driving erratically before the incident.
When Austin Police Department (APD) officers arrived at the scene, they found a large hole in the wall of the restaurant. They conducted a thorough search of the building and the surrounding area but did not find any occupants inside. The vehicle remained at the scene, but the driver was missing.
During the investigation, detectives from the Highway Investigations Unit determined that the driver, later identified as 23-year-old Darien Bowyer, had stolen the Ford truck from a family member earlier that night. Witnesses reported seeing Bowyer driving recklessly, including running a red light north of Gusto Kitchen and Wine Bar at a high rate of speed. Shortly thereafter, Bowyer lost control of the vehicle, and collided with the side of the restaurant, which resulted in property damage and a subsequent loss of revenue due to the establishment's temporary closure.
The Austin Police Department has charged Bowyer with the following offenses:
- - Criminal Mischief – Felony 3
- - Reckless Driving – Class B Misdemeanor
- - Driving While License Invalid – Class B Misdemeanor
The suspect, Darien Bowyer is described as:
- White male
- 5' 6 Tall
- 23-year-old
APD has received information that Bowyer may have fled the state. If you see the suspect or know his location, please call 9-1-1 and do not attempt to make contact.
