City of Austin administrative offices and other municipal facilities will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24, Thursday, Dec. 25 and Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, in observance of the Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day holidays.
Several City services will operate as normal:
City of Austin Utilities Payments – Customers can make payments online at coautilities.com or by calling 1-833-375-4949. In-person payments are accepted at most H-E-B, CVS, Randalls and Walmart stores.
Austin Resource Recovery Curbside Collections – Trash, recycling, and composting collections for Thursday and Friday will slide forward by one day during the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s. Thursday collections will be picked up on Friday, and Friday collections will be picked up on Saturday. Monday through Wednesday collections will remain unchanged both weeks. Customers can check their collection schedule using the Austin Recycles app or by visiting austintexas.gov/myschedule.
The Recycle and Reuse Drop-off Center will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Austin Water’s Hornsby Bend Biosolids Management Plant will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day for yard trimmings and large brush drop-off.
Austin Parks and Recreation – City parks, except the Zilker Park great lawn, will be open. Golf courses will be open Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day with the final Golf ATX course reservations issued at 10 a.m. on Dec. 24. All aquatic facilities will be closed, except Barton Springs Pool, which will operate unguarded. For additional information, please check the Austin Parks and Recreation closures page.
The City reminds residents to utilize the following public resources, if needed, during the upcoming holidays.
- Report power outages at outagemap.austinenergy.com or by calling 512-322-9100.
- Report water or wastewater emergencies by calling 512-972-1000.
- Library resources can be accessed at the Austin Public Library website.
