Upcoming AARC Events
Community Health Fair | Saturday, July 12
The Asian American Resource Center (AARC), Austin Public Health (APH), and Austin Asian Community Health Initiative (AACHI) are hosting our annual Community Health Fair on Saturday, July 12 from 10:00am-2:00pm at the AARC (8401 Cameron Road, Austin, 78754)!
Parking will be available onsite at the AARC and at the Austin Police Department (1520 Rutherford Lane), which is a 5 minute walk to the AARC. Entry/exit to both lots is on Cameron Road. Carpooling, public transit, and ride shares are encouraged. The AARC is located by stops for bus lines 10 and 325.
Services are first come, first served. This is a family friendly event that is open to all with FREE health services, community resources, and activities, including:
- Limited vaccines (for people ages 18+ only), vaccine services end at 1pm.
- Health screenings
- Vision testing
- Other health resources
- Raffle prizes
- Food distribution
- School supplies
Please note:
- Bring your vaccine records.
- For glucose and cholesterol testing, fasting is required. You should still take your medications and drink water as needed. For glucose, fast for 2 hours before testing. For cholesterol, fast for 8 hours before testing.
Documents required for Medical Access Program (MAP):
- Proof of address
- Proof of income for all household
- Proof of family size
- Photo ID for all applicants
- Proof of immigration status

Interpretation and translation services will be available for Arabic, Burmese, Nepali, Pashto, Dari, Vietnamese, and Korean languages. AARC Summer Art Day | Saturday, July 26
Join us for a full day of exhibit celebrations on Saturday, July 26 from 1:00pm-3:00pm! There will be artist talks, tours, and workshops for our new summer exhibits, Golden Years Weighing Philippine Martial Law 1972-1981, Untangling: AANHPI Intergenerational Dialogues by promqueen x Chie Endo, and Elements Connected by Tiffany Heng-Hui Lee. Embodied Cyanotype Narratives | Saturday, August 2
Join the AARC and Mavyn Vu on Saturday, August 2 from 10:30am-2:00pm for Embodied Cyanotype Narratives, an intergenerational creative workshop where attendees will be able to share their personal and family stories through intergenerational conversations, oral storytelling, and group mural making!
This event is a collaboration with local artist, Mavyn Vu, and is supported in part by the City of Austin Office of Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment. It is open to all ages; however, the intergenerational conversations portion of this program is best suited for adults and children aged 10+. For younger children, we will have alternate children’s activities available. Light refreshments provided! RSVP is required. Hyphenated Book Club • Year Round • 6:00PM - 7:30PM
The Hyphenated Book Club is back for 2025! Join fellow book lovers in the community to dive into works by Asian American authors. From new releases by emerging voices to beloved community favorites, fiction to non-fiction and everything in-between, explore the diversity of American literature from an Asian American lens.
All meet ups are free and open to the public to attend. Must be 18+. All sessions are hosted in person at the AARC. No need to have finished the book to attend, though recommended. See below for Hyphenated's reading list and meet up dates.

Senior Program
AARC Senior program is designed to address the intergenerational wellness and education needs of Austin residents, age 50 and up, with a focus on Asian American culture and community. To learn more about the current class schedule and how to register, go to AARC Senior Programming.
Austin Community College - ESL Classes • Tuesday/Thursday • 6 - 8:30 p.m.
Austin Community College (ACC) offers free ESL courses to help non-native speakers learn basic English for college or the workplace, or simply to become more comfortable with everyday communication. Check ACC’s ESL Class Schedule to view a variety of days and times.
Artist Access Program • Year Round
The Artist Access Program (AAP) provides free or low-cost rehearsal and production spaces to both emerging and established performance artists living in the Austin area. Created to address the needs of local artists, participating organizations collaborate with the City of Austin’s Cultural Centers to produce professional performances for both local and visiting audiences.
