Golden Years: Weighing Martial Law in the Philippines - 11,103 Screening | Saturday, September 26
Join us and the curators of "Golden Years" for a screening of the documentary, 11,103 . This film screening will coincide with the 53rd anniversary of Martial Law in the Philippines. Keep the memories of Martial Law alive, by learning about how Filipino-Americans in Texas are connected to the events of Martial Law in the Philippines, and listening to stories of survivors of Martial Law.
Anakbayan Houston will share a historical primer before the film and facilitate a communal group discussion following the film screening. Preshow archival news footage will be provided by the Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI).

Neon Art Workshop | Saturday, October 18
Join the AARC and local artist Yamin Li for our Neon Art Workshop on Saturday, October 18 from 11am to 1pm! During this workshop, Yamin Li will instruct attendees on creating their own neon letterboxes (a 3D-printed structure of a word, phrase, or character)! Attendees can request a custom letterbox using a word, phrase, or character that reflects their personal and cultural experiences or select from pre-printed options. We will conclude the workshop with an optional show and tell, during which attendees can share the story behind their letterbox. Youth Voices Rising | Registration Open
Youth Voices Rising is an 8-week leadership academy for youth (grades 6-8) to explore the history and culture of Asian Pacific American in the United States through Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) education. Students will learn to use mathematics, data, and statistics to analyze historical events while connecting with their backgrounds. Materials and snacks provided. Registration will close once we reach the maximum number of registrants.
Teen Mentorship Program | Application Open
Apply for the AARC’s Teen Mentorship Program (TMP)! As part of this cohort, mentors and mentees will have the opportunity to engage with like-minded peers, meet local Asian American professionals in our community, and learn about Asian Pacific American history and culture. To close out the program, the cohort will implement their skills and connections to plan and execute a capstone project to present at the family showcase. Hyphenated Book Club • Year Round • 6:00PM - 7:30PM
The Hyphenated Book Club is back for 2025! Join fellow book lovers in the community to dive into works by Asian American authors. From new releases by emerging voices to beloved community favorites, fiction to non-fiction and everything in-between, explore the diversity of American literature from an Asian American lens.
All meet ups are free and open to the public to attend. Must be 18+. All sessions are hosted in person at the AARC. No need to have finished the book to attend, though recommended. See below for Hyphenated's reading list and meet up dates.

Senior Program
AARC Senior program is designed to address the intergenerational wellness and education needs of Austin residents, age 50 and up, with a focus on Asian American culture and community. To learn more about the current class schedule and how to register, go to AARC Senior Programming.
Austin Community College - ESL Classes • Tuesday/Thursday • 6:00 - 8:30 PM
Austin Community College (ACC) offers free ESL courses to help non-native speakers learn basic English for college or the workplace, or simply to become more comfortable with everyday communication. Check ACC’s ESL Class Schedule to view a variety of days and times.
Artist Access Program • Year Round
The Artist Access Program (AAP) provides free or low-cost rehearsal and production spaces to both emerging and established performance artists living in the Austin area. Created to address the needs of local artists, participating organizations collaborate with the City of Austin’s Cultural Centers to produce professional performances for both local and visiting audiences.
