Apply For a Permit
At the City of Austin - Environmental Health Services Division, applying for a permit is a 10-step process. The graphic below shows the steps that need to be taken in order to go through the plan review and permit application process. Established permit holders repeat steps 6-10 annually for renewal.

Austin Public Health Permitting Process
To start the process, click the Apply for a New Permit button to be directed to My Health Department - APH. Please ensure that all required documents have been attached to the application to be complete.

- Renewals and Re-Inspections

- Submit a renewal application via email at ehsd.service@austintexas.gov. Renewal process should begin before expiration date.

Customers may request a refund by submitting a written request by mail, email, or in person. Once received, our office will review the request and determine approval or denial based on services provided and payment status.
Refund Guidelines:
- Requests must be submitted in writing within 6 months of the initial payment date.
- Approved refunds will be issued in the same form of payment originally used.
