Austin Public Health’s Neighborhood Centers served more than 101,800 Austinites at their food pantries and other Basic Needs services in FY 2025.

AUSTIN, Texas – Austin Public Health’s Neighborhood Centers served more than 101,800 Austinites at their food pantries and other Basic Needs services in Fiscal Year 2025. This number highlights the ever-growing issue of food insecurity and the need for community-wide efforts to help provide for those in need.

“As we saw earlier this fall when SNAP benefits were disrupted, there is a widespread need for food assistance here in Austin and Travis County,” said Neighborhood Services Unit Manager Angel Zambrano. “Community efforts like the food pantries at our Neighborhood Centers and all the work done by our partners like the Central Texas Food Bank are essential in keeping our families, friends and neighbors fed, especially during the holidays.”

Simultaneously, APH actively addresses multifaceted needs through a comprehensive range of services. From crucial restaurant inspections and emergency preparedness plans to vital job assistance, Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) programs, and beyond, APH remains at the forefront of community-focused initiatives.

“Our services are here for anyone who finds themselves in a place where they need help with food or any other basic needs,” said Donna Sundstrom, Community Services Assistant Director. “We have teams at each of our centers who are eager to meet you and offer a helping hand. If you need something we don’t provide, we can connect you with a number of community partners to provide additional assistance.”

Austin Public Health’s Neighborhood Centers are located across the city and offer services to anyone in need. The centers are in North, East, and South Austin. Monthly lists of food distribution events can be found here: December, January. Future food distribution event calendars will be posted on the Neighborhood Centers website.
