The Austin Fire Department (AFD) has a process to help Central Texas campuses comply with Texas Education Code Section 37.117, which requires school districts and open-enrollment charter schools to provide to the Department of Public Safety and all appropriate local law enforcement agencies and emergency first responders::
- an accurate map of each district campus and school building that is developed and documented in accordance with the standards described by Section 37.351 related to developing site and floor plans, access control, and exterior door numbering; and
- an opportunity to conduct a walk-through of each district campus and school building using the map
To begin, use the Fire Department Look-Up Map to determine which Central Texas fire department/ESD serves the campus. If the campus is located outside the City of Austin, the look-up map will provide an email link to submit the map to the appropriate agency. The City of Austin cannot forward maps submitted in error to other departments.
If the campus is located within AFD's jurisdiction, fill out the required information and upload a campus map PDF via this link. Once submitted, a confirmation email will be sent the address provided. Please keep this receipt as proof of map submission.
