Virtual Celebrations

One family must register on RecTrac.

Dates: Select Saturdays 10:00am-11:30pm

October 10, October 17, October 24, October 31, November 7, November 21, December 5, December 12

Ages: 4-7

Cost: $95/ celebration.

Let Austin Nature & Science Center host your next Celebration! Great for birthdays, hangouts, and get togethers for kids ages 4-7 and their families. Each celebration will include an interactive learning session, on theme craft, and time for your group to interact on your own. Celebrations will be hosted on Zoom and are for up to 20 screens. Registration includes an interactive program, additional time for your group to hang out in our “Zoom Room,” virtual invites, activity kit, and virtual goodie bag. Activity kits will include materials for a guided craft and must be picked up from Austin Nature & Science Center by the party host. Participants may choose from the themes below:

Animal: Introduce your pets or stuffed animal and meet some animals that call Austin Nature & Science Center their home. Break into groups for a guided animal craft.

Dinosaur: Learn about creatures that used to roam our planet, and a special one that was discovered right here in Austin! Participate in a dino dig right from your own home.

ANSC Staff responsibilities:

· Setup and host Zoom Room

· Provide virtual invites to guest list

· Provide craft kits and coordinate pickup with celebration host

· Provide an interactive learning session and guided craft (45 minutes)

· Monitor room for groups independent time (45 minutes)

· Send out virtual goodie bag after program

Registered family responsibilities:

· Pick up activity kits from Austin Nature and Science Center

· Send guest list to ANSC staff

· Log in and have fun!

Wednesday - Friday at 1pm and 3pm | Saturday at 2pm.

How it Works

Find or make a cool item from nature!  Items accepted include: rocks, minerals, fossils, shells, bones, insects, insect parts, plant parts, nature art, drawings, photos taken, nature journal entries, etc.  Items not accepted include: anything from birds, anything collected from a preserve or area where collecting is not allowed, human artifacts such as arrowheads, intentionally killed animals, or whole plants.  

Register for a Zoom Virtual Trading Session for your selected time.  After you register on Eventbrite, you will receive a link to the Zoom page to log in at your time.  Register on Eventbrite.

Share your nature item with our virtual traders at your trade time on Zoom.  We will record your name, birthdate, and how many points you receive for your item and keep it for when we re-open the Trade Counter.  

Visit the Trade Counter at the Austin Nature & Science Center when we re-open and select items from our cool nature items "to buy" with the points you earned!

Nature Show & Tell

Registration begins Friday, September 18th at 10 am on Eventbrite.

Join us beginning in October for our Nature Show & Tell!

Show and Tell is a Trade Counter experience designed for 3-6 year-olds that take place Tuesdays from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Austin Nature and Science Center Naturalists Kristi, Sharon, and Emily will be available for you to share your interesting nature finds and help you learn more about them.

Items for trading can include rocks, bones, seeds, nature photographs and drawings, and much more! Limit 2 items per trade experience.

In return for sharing your natural objects and knowledge, our Naturalists will reward you with points to spend at our Naturalist Workshop when ANSC reopens.

Young Scientists is a live Zoom program designed for 3-6 year olds that will take place Mondays this fall from 11:00 to 11:30 am. Austin Nature & Science Center Instructors Elizabeth and Sharon will lead sensory-based science experiments and explore the scientific method.

Creature Feature

Join us beginning in October for our Creature Feature program!

Creature Feature is a Zoom program created for 3-6 year-olds that will take place Fridays this fall from 11:00 to 11:30 am.  Austin Nature & Science Center Instructors Kat and Caroline will introduce a different ANSC animal each week and then lead a craft that relates to something participants learned about the animal.
