Senior Activities

Did you know Austin's population is aging faster than many of our peer cities? According to the city demographer, adults 65 and older are now the fastest-growing age group in Austin — even as the city remains young at heart.

To meet this shift, our Varsity Generation facilities and senior centers host monthly gatherings for adults 50 and older, featuring themed activities, games, entertainment, and food. Since launching, these "Bringing Seniors Together" events have grown steadily in popularity, drawing over 900 attendees in the past year alone.

Beyond these events, Community Recreation Centers delivered 17,756 Meals on Wheels meals and provided 62,927 senior transportation rides last year.
