APO Discipline Recommendation 2025-01673, Officer Brian Bustos

In response to the internal investigation into Officer Bustos, Austin Police Oversight (APO) recommends he receive a suspension of 1-5 days. Officer Bustos was investigated after gunfire from his property led to misdemeanor charges, but he ultimately pleaded no contest to a lesser charge. Throughout the investigation, Officer Bustos maintained that he acted lawfully, and he communicated with his chain of command only after receiving an official summons. APO believes there is insufficient evidence to confirm any policy violations other than Austin Police Department Policy on acts bringing discredit upon the department.
