APD Response to APO Policy Recommendation: Equipment and Uniform Regulations

In response to the Austin Police Oversight's recommendation that the equipment and uniform regulation policy be updated to require Austin Police Department employees to wear only an authorized duty belt or department-issued or approved accessories, APD's Police Chief Lisa Davis disagrees, stating that existing policy wording already covers items that have been permitted for use and that the addition could create ambiguity between ongoing authorization and case-by-case approval.
