OPO Analysis: APD Use of Force Axon Report (2024 Quarter 4 Data Analysis)

This report reviews data from October to December 2024. The APD's Force Review Unit provided the monthly AXON Use of Force reports to the Office of Police Oversight, which were limited to Level II to Level IV force incidents. 

Key Findings of 2024 Q4 OPO Analysis:

  1. The George (DTAC) sector experienced the highest number of use of force incidents (22%) in Quarter 4. 
  2. Level IV use of force was used most often in all sectors. Level II was used the least. 
  3. “Weaponless Other” was the technique used most often by officers (45% of all techniques reported), followed by “Weaponless Takedown” (21%). 
  4. Most incidents were reported to involve “Defensive Resistance” (62%).
