City launches Austin Bond Dashboard to share project status and spending of bond-funded projects
AUSTIN, Texas — The City of Austin launched the Austin Bond Dashboard to provide a transparent, community-friendly view of the City’s General Obligation bond-funded capital projects.
Developed by Capital Delivery Services, the dashboard provides project details and spending information for projects funded through Austin’s 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2022 General Obligation Bonds.
Explore projects and spending
The Austin Bond Dashboard supports transparency and accountability in the delivery of the City's capital improvement projects. The dashboard invites Austinites to explore project details, funding, spending and progress by year, proposition or individual project. The dashboard includes:
Bond program information: Summaries, proposition descriptions, amounts authorized by voters and project counts.
Financial information: Charts showing spending and funds committed to projects by proposition.
Project progress: The number of projects anticipated, in design, in construction, completed or cancelled.
Individual project details: Descriptions of planned improvements, status updates, funding information and project contacts.
Together, these features serve as a tool for the public to access information regarding bond-funded improvements; how and where funds are being spent.
Understanding project status
The dashboard uses five categories to describe each project’s current stage:
Anticipated: The project is in early planning and has not entered design or construction.
Design: The project is being designed or prepared for construction, including bidding and contract award.
Construction: Construction is underway.
Completed: The City has accepted the completed improvements, and they are open to the public.
Cancelled: The project will not move forward as originally planned, and its funds have been or are being reassigned.
A project’s status may change as work progresses. Its status does not necessarily reflect how much of its budget has been obligated or spent.
Likewise, projects may be cancelled because of changes in priorities, funding, planned improvements, site conditions or whether the work is feasible. A cancellation does not necessarily mean the community need has been resolved.
Additional improvements planned
CDS will continue to improve the dashboard following its launch. For example, mapping improvements will connect individual projects to their locations, making it easier to see where bond-funded investments are taking place.
