This project will improve the storm drain system in the South Lamar area and will help protect the area from flooding.

Thornton Road to be Closed

There will temporarily be no access to and from the neighborhood from West Oltorf Street via Thornton Road during the day for up to four weeks.

Detour routes

  • To reach West Oltorf Street, please follow the posted detour and use Del Curto Road and Bluebonnet Lane to exit the neighborhood at South Lamar Boulevard.
  • Enter the neighborhood on Bluebonnet Lane from South Lamar Boulevard and follow the posted detour signs.

For your safety, stay out of fenced-off areas and follow all detours. The detours apply to pedestrians and bicyclists as well as cars.

Repaving

Road surfaces will be temporarily patched during construction. We plan to repave at the end of 2027 when the project is expected to be complete, weather permitting.
