Waller Beach Duct Bank Upgrade Construction Continues; Portion of Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail to Be Temporarily Rerouted Beginning July 27

Construction continues on the Waller Beach Duct Bank Upgrade, a critical infrastructure investment from Austin Energy.

Beginning next week, crews will use the area in front of the Austin Rowing Club boathouse to stage for the next phase of construction. As this work begins, a portion of the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail will be temporarily rerouted through summer 2027. Trail users should follow posted detour signs while work is underway.

Austin Parks and Recreation is repairing a retaining wall at the Brazos Street cul-de-sac. This work is being coordinated with ongoing construction activities.

The Waller Beach Duct Bank Upgrade will strengthen the downtown electrical system by increasing capacity and improving long-term reliability.
