LIVING WAGE

The City of Austin's living wage is $21.63 per hour, effective October 2024. This is the result of a City Council decision to increase the Living Wage for the City of Austin. This wage applies to regular and temporary City employees. 

The federal minimum wage increased to $7.25 per hour, effective July 24, 2009. For more information, please refer to the Department of Labor's Wage and Overtime Pay web page.

What is Service Incentive Pay (SIP)? 

Service Incentive Pay (SIP) is a benefit for regular, non-Civil Service employees at the City of Austin who have completed three (3) years of continuous service by December 1. Eligible employees will receive $100 for each year of continuous service. 

Eligible employees with eight (8) to nine (9) years of continuous service will receive their SIP payout according to the previous guidelines or $100 for each year of service, whichever is greater, through FY25. $1,500 is the maximum SIP payout amount.
