It includes a pay and benefits package that supports the City in attracting, motivating and retaining a productive labor force.
LIVING WAGE
The City of Austin's living wage is $21.63 per hour, effective October 2024. This is the result of a City Council decision to increase the Living Wage for the City of Austin. This wage applies to regular and temporary City employees.
The federal minimum wage increased to $7.25 per hour, effective July 24, 2009. For more information, please refer to the Department of Labor's Wage and Overtime Pay web page.

- What is Service Incentive Pay (SIP)?

Service Incentive Pay (SIP) is a benefit for regular, non-Civil Service employees at the City of Austin who have completed three (3) years of continuous service by December 1. Eligible employees will receive $100 for each year of continuous service.
Eligible employees with eight (8) to nine (9) years of continuous service will receive their SIP payout according to the previous guidelines or $100 for each year of service, whichever is greater, through FY25. $1,500 is the maximum SIP payout amount.For more information: Benefits Division
