Emergency Plans

Emergency Plans and Publications

Austin Emergency Management (AEM) prepares detailed plans for the emergency situations likely to impact Central Texas. AEM also publishes after action reports following major incidents to document the actions the City took to prepare, respond, and recover from the incident and how to improve City operations going forward.

We welcome all Austinites to review these plans to learn more about how the City of Austin prepares for emergencies and to share feedback that can help strengthen future planning efforts.

The purpose of developing the Plan is to minimize or eliminate the long-term risk to human life and property from known hazards that impact the area, such as severe weather, floods, or wildfires, through effective mitigation.

AEM is gathering input on the draft plan until May 14th, 2026. The draft plan can be viewed by clicking the down below. Comments can be emailed to pmorris@h2opartnersusa.com.
