The City of Austin is proud to announce that it has been named a 4 Star Employer in the 2026 VETS Indexes Employer Awards, a national recognition celebrating organizations that meaningfully support veterans, service members, and military families.

This recognition reflects the City’s ongoing efforts to create pathways for veterans to thrive in civilian careers, provide support for National Guard and Reserve members, and ensure military spouses have access to stable employment opportunities. The VETS Index program analyzes employer policies, practices, and outcomes across five categories:

  • Veteran job candidate recruiting and hiring
  • Veteran employee development and retention
  • Veteran inclusive‑ policies and culture
  • Support for National Guard and Reserve members
  • Military spouse and family support

“This recognition reflects our dedication to recruiting, hiring, and supporting veterans and military-connected employees,” said Susan Sinz, Austin Human Resources Director. “Their skills and experience are vital to the strength of our workforce and the services we provide to the community.”
