Casa de la Cultura: Books y Baile

Join us on Saturday, August 8 for Books y Baile — a free, family-friendly celebration of literacy, music, dance, and community at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center! 

From 4:00–9:00 PM, experience an evening that highlights the vibrant cultural programming offered throughout the summer by the Casa de la Cultura team. Families can enjoy a special story time hosted by AVANCE-Austin as they unveil their new @capmetroatx Bus, along with free books for children to help inspire a love of reading. 

Local Barbers from the Austin area will also be giving free kid's cuts in our Art Studio on a first come first served basis. Then, let the rhythm take over! Kick off the festivities with a lively fandango in the MACC zócalo led by Los Fandangueros de Austin, learn new moves during an interactive cumbia lesson with Cumbia Para Todos , and close out the evening dancing under the stars with Cumbia Bajo la Luna. Books y Baile has something for everyone, come enjoy an evening of culture and connection. Bring your family, invite your friends, and celebrate with us— alli nos vemos!
