Community members are invited to engage with project teams and learn about upcoming improvements.

The City of Austin Capital Delivery Services (CDS) invites the community to the next “Building Austin” event, part of a quarterly informational series on Austin infrastructure projects. This event, taking place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025, at the Turner Roberts Recreation Center (7201 Colony Loop Drive), will highlight projects in Northeast Austin, with a focus on transportation, water infrastructure, and park improvements. 

Building Austin: Spotlighting Northeast Austin Projects

The February session will provide updates on multiple infrastructure projects designed to enhance safety, mobility, public health, and recreational opportunities in Northeast Austin. Featured projects include:

Corridor Program Projects:

  • Airport Boulevard – 2016 bond project
  • East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard – 2016 bond project
  • North Lamar Boulevard – 2016 bond project

Austin Water Projects:

  • Walnut Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion
  • Johnny Morris/Highway 290 Area Water Line Extensions

Parks and Recreation Department Projects:

  • Walter E. Long Metropolitan Park Improvements
  • Givens District Park – Recreation Center Renovation

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about each project during brief presentations, followed by an open house to meet project teams and ask questions.

The event will also be available in a hybrid format via Zoom. CDS will ensure that community members receive follow-up with confirmed responses from project teams after the event. 

Supporting Austin’s Evolving Needs

CDS manages more than $10 billion in construction projects that support Austin’s evolving needs. These efforts include mobility improvements, building public health facilities, reducing flood risks, upgrading essential city infrastructure, and enhancing public parks.

The event is open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend, interact with City staff, and learn about how these projects are advancing Austin’s infrastructure for future generations.
