I Am Parks and Recreation Exhibit
“I Am Parks and Recreation” is a special photo exhibit celebrating the people who make Austin’s parks, programs, and public spaces thrive. Through on‑location portraits and personal reflections, the exhibit offers an intimate look at the everyday work, dedication, and care that often goes unseen but is felt throughout the community.
Pro‑bono photographer Monica Liang‑Aguirre captures portraits and personal quotes from 14 Austin Parks and Recreation employees. Representing roles across aquatics, forestry, golf, maintenance, natural resources, community recreation, senior programs, and therapeutic recreation, these individuals offer a rare look at the expertise and dedication at Austin Parks and Recreation.
Visitors will discover the stories behind the people who maintain trails and historic buildings, lead youth and senior programs, protect natural spaces, keep facilities safe, teach new skills, and create inclusive environments where all Austinites can belong. Together, these portraits highlight the human side of Parks and Recreation—one built on stewardship, connection, and a shared belief that parks are truly for everyone.
“I Am Parks and Recreation” is free and open to the public in the City Hall Atrium, July 13–24, Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
