Krieg Athletic Complex Reclaimed Water Line Project
Krieg Athletic Complex sand volleyball courts and a part of the parking lot will be closed, and the trail will be rerouted due to work replacing the destroyed waterline at Roy G. Guerrero Park. City Council District 2
Background
In 2015, the Halloween floods destroyed the pedestrian bridge that crossed Country Club Creek and the original 6-inch diameter recycled water line that was attached to the bridge. The recycled water line allows Parks and Recreation to irrigate the fields with recycled water, supporting responsible water usage.
Project Description
This project will reconnect the recycled water irrigation line that was servicing ballfields and green areas at Krieg Athletic Complex, 515 S. Pleasant Valley Road, with the existing recycled water line on the Roy G. Guerrero Metropolitan Park side of Country Club Creek. The new recycled water line will be installed hydraulically below grade (underground) to avoid trenching and disturbance of park amenities.
In addition to the installation of the recycled water line and reconnection, we will remove a damaged water line that is currently below the sand volleyball courts. The removal of this water line will require us to close the volleyball courts to dig out the current damaged line and install the new drain line. Once the drain line is installed, the volleyball courts will be restored to original condition.
