If you received a claim from the City of Austin and believe you were billed in error or are not responsible for the damages, you can dispute the claim.

How to submit a dispute

Write a letter to the Claims Division

You must send this letter within 30 days of receiving the bill. 

In your letter, include:

  • Claim file number
  • Address where the damage occurred
  • Date of the damage
  • Description of the event and why you dispute the claim
  • Supporting documents (e.g., photos, invoices, reports)
