Davis Water Treatment Plant Improvement Projects

The Albert R. Davis Water Treatment Plant is one of three City of Austin drinking water plants. It was built in 1954 and was upgraded in 1963, 1977, and 1987 to its current capacity of 118 million gallons per day. The plant provides water to residents predominately in Central and North zones of Austin. Austin Water completed two major improvement projects in 2023 and 2025 to upgrade and replace several electrical and mechanical components of the plant, including constructing a new medium service pump station building and electrical substation building.

Maintenance and improvement projects are ongoing to keep the plant performing well to serve Austin customers. Austin Water provides updates to neighbors through email and neighbor update meetings.
