Glenlake Pump Station Bypass Improvements

Project Overview

The Glenlake Pump Station Bypass Improvements Project will install about 1,000 linear feet of new water line and decommission the existing pump station and water tanks at 9809 Glenlake Drive. This project will improve water service reliability in the area by creating looped water pipelines, eliminating the need for the pump station and installing fire hydrants to enhance fire protection.

Austin Water is partnering with Austin Capital Delivery Services for construction management. One contractor is handling this project alongside the Guildford Cove Pump Station and Lookout Lane Pump Station projects over a two-year period, beginning in late summer 2024. Work will not occur on all three projects at the same time. Work days are generally Monday–Saturday, with some Sundays as needed. Hours vary by location:

  • Narrow Ridge Drive and 911 Driveway: 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
  • Glenlake Drive: 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Monday–Friday; 7 a.m.–7 p.m. weekends

At least one lane of traffic will remain open at all times during construction, with flagging operations to keep vehicles moving safely. We will close lanes as needed but will not close entire streets. You will always have access to your home, though driveway access may be briefly limited at times. The emergency access road between Glenlake Drive and Narrow Ridge Drive will remain open throughout the project. After work is complete, all affected streets will be milled and overlaid with a new asphalt surface.

At some point during construction, water will be temporarily turned off for some customers, but only for a few hours in most cases. We will post a flyer on your door before any planned shutoff. In rare emergency situations, water may be turned off without advance notice. We will do our best to avoid this.

Timeline

The contactor will be working on these pump station projects over a two-year period, but not on all three at the same time. Work began in late summer of 2024.
