Zilker Water and Wastewater Renewal
The Zilker Water and Wastewater Renewal Project is part of Renewing Austin, an ongoing Austin Water program to replace and upgrade aging infrastructure. Water line breaks are well documented in the area, and the project is necessary to increase reliability of service and avoid further expenditures to maintain water lines that have broken frequently. Wastewater lines will also be improved in the area.
Austin Water is collaborating with Austin Watershed Protection to include repair or replacement of storm water pipes in the same project. “Digging once” to make improvements to three infrastructure systems in one project will consolidate construction in this area and minimize disruption to neighbors.
Timeline
The project is currently under construction and we anticipate completion in early 2026.
