Westgate Neighborhood Wastewater Pipeline Renewal

Thurgood Avenue 006

Project Overview

As part of the Renewing Austin program, Austin Water is bringing improvements to the wastewater system in the Westgate neighborhood. We have documented a number of overflows in this area, and new lines will help us conserve water, improve reliability for customers, and reduce expenditures on frequently breaking lines.

The Westgate Neighborhood Wastewater Renewal Project will take place in the parts of the Williamson Creek Basin that sit in the Westgate, Franklin Park, and South Creek neighborhoods. We will rehabilitate 12,300 linear feet of wastewater lines and 1,050 linear feet of water lines. The Watershed Protection Department will rehabilitate 200 linear feet of stormwater line during this project as well.

We will partner with the City of Austin’s Capital Delivery Services (CDS) Division for the construction phase of this project, which will be managed by CDS project management staff.

Timeline

Construction began in the fall of 2024 and is expected to reach completion in late 2026 or early 2027. All streets disturbed by construction will be repaved by the end of the project.
