Texana at Twilight: An Evening with James Wade

Brush Square Museums Foundation's 4th Annual Texana at Twilight speaker series event features Texas author James Wade, author of All Things Left Wild and Narrow the Road.

James Wade is a multi-award winning writer, most recently the 2026 Western Heritage Award for Outstanding Western Novel. He is the author of five novels and more than twenty short stories. James holds an MFA from Texas State University and was inducted into the Texas Institute of Letters in 2026. He lives in the Texas Hill Country with his wife and children. Read more about him on his website.

James Wade's presentation will be about the true Texas stories that inspired his recent novels (namely the history of mill towns, the Great Depression, and prohibition, all through the lens of East Texas) as well as give some insight into his current project which centers around the Battle of the Nueces and the German experience in the Texas Hill Country during the Civil War.

Weather permitting, the seating will be outside on the front lawn of the French Legation Historic Site located at 802 San Marcos St., Austin, TX. (No makeup date for rain.) Refreshments are included with $35 admission. Texana at Twilight is presented by the Brush Square Museums Foundation, the Susanna Dickinson Museum, and the French Legation Historic Site. Ticket (donations) support future community programs. A small parking lot is located at 900 E.
