Seeing Further: Closing Reception

As the summer season comes to a close and fall approaches, The Carver sends off its current exhibit, Seeing Further, with a closing reception. The George Washington Carver Museum invites you to join us on Thursday, October the 9th from 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. , with a special exhibition walkthrough with led by the artist at 7:30. 

Texas based artist and photographer, Hakim Adewumi, uses his artistry to weave together Black collective thought, memory, and folklore as a means of defining the Juneteenth holiday. Adewumi asks, "What do our celebrations mean, how did we define freedom, and how do we define it today?"
