City of Austin Hazard Mitigation Action Plan Update Draft Ready for Review
Austin Emergency Management has developed the City’s Hazard Mitigation Action Plan (HMAP). A draft copy of the Plan is available for the public to review on AEM’s Emergency Plans webpage. Comments and other feedback may be emailed to pmorris@h2opartnersusa.com.
The purpose of developing the Plan is to minimize or eliminate the long-term risk to human life and property from known hazards that impact the area, such as severe weather, floods, or wildfires, through effective mitigation.
The City of Austin is gathering input on the draft plan until May 14, 2026. The draft plan can be viewed on the City’s website.
Your feedback helps strengthen Austin’s resilience and preparedness. All community members are encouraged to participate.
The HMAP is updated every five years to identify and assess the potential impacts of natural and human-caused hazards that threaten Austin. Hazards are identified through a review of historical records, national data sources, existing plans and reports, and collaboration with local, regional, and national experts.
To learn more about HMAP, visit the Austin Emergency Management website. Comments about the updated draft can be emailed to pmorris@h2opartnersusa.com.
