Awardees holding their Flood Safety Video Contest certificates.

Calling all 6–12 grade students to enter now!

Austin, TX – Austin Watershed Protection invites students in grades 6–12 from Austin and surrounding areas to enter the 2026 Flood Safety Video Contest. 

  • Objective: Create a short video, no longer than 30 seconds, that shares the life-saving message “Turn Around – Don’t Drown®” when roads are flooded. Videos can be in any language, and students may work individually or in teams.
  • Deadline: March 25, 2026

Winners will receive a prize and be honored at Flood Safety Fest on April 18. Entries will be judged on creativity, clarity, and impact. 

“Austin lies in the heart of Flash Flood Alley, and flood safety education can save lives,” said Jorge Morales, Austin Watershed Protection Director.

Austin Lanza el Concurso de Video de Seguridad contra Inundaciones 2026

¡Convocamos a todos los estudiantes de 6to a 12mo grados a que participen hoy! 

Austin, TX – Protección de Cuencas de Austin invita a estudiantes de 6to a 12mo grado de Austin y de las áreas circundantes a que participen en el Concurso de Video de Seguridad contra Inundaciones 2026. 

  • Objetivo: Crear un video corto, de no más de 30 segundos, que comparta el mensaje que salva vidas, “Es mejor regresarte que ahogarte” (Turn Around – Don’t Drown®, en inglés) cuando las calles estén inundadas. Los videos pueden ser en cualquier idioma y los estudiantes pueden trabajar en forma individual o en grupo.
  • Fecha límite: 25 de marzo del 2026 

Los ganadores recibirán un premio y serán reconocidos en el Festival de Seguridad contra Inundaciones el 18 de abril. Las participaciones se calificarán en cuanto a creatividad, claridad e impacto.
