The Austin Police (APD) Robbery Unit, along with the APD Violent Crimes Task Force and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), has successfully apprehended a suspect in connection with the robbery of the Austin Telco Federal Credit Union that took place on January 28, 2026.
APD Detectives employed various investigative techniques to quickly identify Syntedrick Brown as the suspect. By early Saturday morning, they had gathered substantial evidence, which allowed them to file formal charges against him.
In partnership with the FBI, a joint search warrant was executed at Brown's residence on Monday, February 2, 2026. This operation yielded a significant amount of evidence, including the recovery of a large portion of the cash stolen during the robbery. Brown was arrested and is now in federal custody.

The Austin Police (APD) Robbery Unit is requesting the community’s assistance with identifying the suspect involved in a bank robbery that occurred at the Austin Telco Federal Credit Union located at 12188 Jollyville Road on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 10:09 a.m. The suspect, whose description and photos are included below, entered the bank armed with a firearm. When the suspect was inside the bank, he displayed the weapon to the employees and demanded money. The suspect fled after obtaining a large amount of cash.
The suspect is described as:
- Male
- Average build
- Last seen wearing a black wig, ski goggles, black mask, yellow reflective vest, black hooded sweatshirt, black pants with reflective stripe on sides, light-colored gloves and dark shoes.
