Land Use Assistance (LUAssist), formerly Land Development Information Services (LDIS), helps applicants and the general public understand land development regulations, submit land development applications, and provides case management for applications in review.

A Land Status Determination is an exception to the Land Development Code’s platting requirements.

Sign Permits 

Sign permits are required for outdoor signage. This page provides guidance on determining your sign district and includes instructions for completing the application. 

Site Plan Exemption and Correction

A Site Plan Exemption is a small-scale development or zoning compliance review conducted before filing for or obtaining a building permit. Site Plan Corrections are minor changes to an approved site plan while the site is actively under construction.

Austin Development Services assigns case managers to all site plan applications to support you through the site plan application review process, set clear expectations, and address your questions and concerns.

Zoning verification, compliance, and development compliance are processes the City of Austin follows to ensure that your project has the appropriate zoning for your intended use.

Site Plan Review, Exemptions, Corrections, and Revision Questions

The Land Use Assistance (LUAssist) staff, previously known as the Land Development Information Services (LDIS), can answer general site plan questions such as which Site Plan Application to submit, the site plan process and requirements, Site Plan Exemptions, Corrections, Revisions, and Conditional Use Permits for commercial and multi-family properties, as well as residential and commercial boat docks.

Subdivision/Land Status Determination Questions 

The Land Use Assistance (LUAssist) staff, previously known as the Land Development Information Services (LDIS), can answer general questions regarding the subdivision application process, requirements, and land status determinations (i.e., exceptions to subdivision platting), as well as determine if the property is a platted lot.  

For questions on a Subdivision project currently in review, please contact the Case Manager.

Temporary Use Permits 

Ask general questions about Temporary Use Permits which are for private property. View the Temporary Use Permit Application (PDF) for more information.
