Spring Break Means Lifeguard Training and Hiring for City Aquatic Staff

We're hiring hiring lifeguards starting at $22.05 per hour.

As temperatures continue to rise in the Austin area, the Aquatic Division of the Parks and Recreation Department continues to prepare for the upcoming swim season, hiring hundreds of lifeguards starting at $22.05 per hour.

Lifeguard certification training is ongoing and there are lots of opportunities during spring break, March 15–21, 2026. There are 34 City of Austin pools, so the Aquatic Team hopes to hire hundreds of new lifeguards before schools let out!

Lifeguard training and hiring starts at age 15 and there is no age limit. Candidates from diverse origins, orientations, identities, and abilities are welcome. Learn more at LifeguardAustin.com.
