UPDATE: A suspect has been arrested in the July 12, 2024 homicide in the 8200 block of Grayledge Drive.

Deceased victim: Edgar Yudiel Granados, Hispanic male, 11/8/1992
Suspect (Arrested): Chance Barrett, Black male, 26 years of age
On February 27, 2026, Chance Barrett was arrested on an unrelated charge. On Monday, March 2, 2026, he was formally charged with First-Degree Murder in connection with the death of Edgar Yudiel Granados. Barrett was a former roommate of the victim.

Location: 8200 block of Grayledge Drive
Deceased victim: Edgar Yudiel Granados, Hispanic male, 11-8-92
On Friday, July 12, 2024, at approximately 4:02 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to the report of a stabbing in a residence located in the 8200 block of Grayledge Drive. The caller stated that someone had been stabbed and a subject had run from the residence. Officers and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (A/TCEMS) arrived on scene and located the body of a male, later identified as Edgar Yudiel Granados. Granados was pronounced deceased on scene.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. The investigation is in the early stages and is ongoing at this time.
