Project Overview
As we prepare for the needs of the future, Austin Water is strengthening our community’s water and wastewater infrastructure with the Renewing Austin program. The Cameron Road Wastewater Improvements Project is part of this work, and through this project Austin Water is ensuring reliability today and preparing for the needs of tomorrow by replacing smaller pipes with much larger ones.
The existing wastewater pipe serving Capital Plaza and other customers between Interstate 35, Highway 290, and Cameron Road in the Upper Tannehill Basin is undersized for existing wastewater demands, leaving it at risk of overflowing during wet weather. This project will relieve the current bottleneck in this area and provide additional capacity for future growth by replacing approximately 5,530 linear feet of 8-inch, 10-inch and 12-inch diameter wastewater pipes with upsized 18-inch and 24-inch pipes.
Timeline
We anticipate the start of construction in the late spring of 2026. The project should take about 21 months to complete.
