Project Overview

Austin Water has made plans to improve water pressure for customers along the West and East Oltorf corridors. This project will start the process and take place near the Travis Heights neighborhood.

Water systems are divided into pressure zones. The Oltorf Corridor near Travis Heights currently sits in the Central Pressure Zone. Through the Oltorf Pressure Zone Improvements Project, this area will be connected to stronger pressure areas and be part of creating a new pressure zone called the South Reduced Pressure Zone. To ensure that the pressure is properly regulated, we will install pressure reducing valves (“PRVs”) at certain junctures and on some properties. In addition, where necessary, Austin Water will provide (and the project contractor will install free of charge) thermal expansion tanks. These tanks serve as a backup system should the water pressure go too high.

If your property requires an expansion tank or pressure reducing valve, you will receive a notice from the city and a request to sign a right of entry form so that the contractor can install the tank and/or pressure reducing valve for you later on during the project. Please be on the lookout and sign and return the ROE as quickly as possible so we can provide these services.
