Before stormwater runoff reaches a creek, it usually flows through a system of smaller ditches and drainage pipes. Austin has over 1,100 miles of such systems. The Local Flood Program evaluates and upgrades these systems to address flooding.
We perform a variety of services related to the design, construction and maintenance of the City’s storm drainage infrastructure including:
Evaluation of existing systems,
Identification of flooding issues,
Investigation of reported flooding, and
Design and construction of improvements.
The program also works closely with the Field Operations Division to evaluate the condition and coordinate the maintenance of existing infrastructure.
