AUSTIN, TEXAS – Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, passenger traffic decreased in May 2020 by 91.5% compared to May 2019 with 130,826 passengers flying during the month.

Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for May 2020 was 130,826 down 91.5% compared to May 2019. May 2020 enplanements totaled 66,104, down 91.6%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 49,736, down 90.3%; American Airlines passengers totaled 37,577, down 85.3%; Delta Air Lines passengers totaled 12,803, down 94%; United Airlines passengers totaled 10,345, down 95.4%; Alaska Airlines passengers totaled 6,087, down 89%; Allegiant Air passengers totaled 5,367, down 77.4%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 5,170, down 93.7%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 2,009, down 96.1%; and Spirit Airlines passengers totaled 1,732, down 97.8%.
May 2020 air cargo totaled 13,588,014 lbs., down 12.4% compared to May 2019. International air cargo totaled 93,741 lbs., down 92.9%. Federal Express carried 7,677,352 lbs., down 4.9%; Atlas Air carried 2,481,924 lbs.; and United Parcel Service carried 2,349,447 lbs., down 27.6%.
Air Services transferred 323,373 lbs. of mail, down 65.2%; and 474,380 lbs. of belly freight, down 78.62%.
Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 2,725, down 18.5%. Combined operations (including commercial and military) totaled 6,817, down 62%.

Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for January – May 2020 was 3,405,204 down 49%, compared to January – May 2019. January – May 2020 enplanements totaled 1,689,727, down 49.4%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 1,101,803, down 52.6%; American Airlines passengers totaled 663,243, down 46.4%; United Airlines passengers totaled 485,536, down 51%; Delta Air Lines passengers totaled 481,900, down 46.2%; Spirit Airlines passengers totaled 209,668, down 12.3%; Alaska Airlines passengers totaled 124,860, down 48.6%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 122,372, down 47%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 121,285, down 52.6%; British Airways passengers totaled 29,217, down 59.8%; Allegiant Air passengers totaled 23,842, down 71.5%; Lufthansa passengers totaled 15,883; Air Canada passengers totaled 10,317, down 60.6%; AeroMexico passengers totaled 9,915, down 34.1% ; Norwegian Air passengers totaled 3,474, down 85%; Swift Air passengers totaled 928, down 26.8%; Sun Country Airlines passengers totaled 643, down 89.8%; VivaAerobus passengers totaled 197; and Miami Air passengers totaled 121, down 84.4%.
January – May 2020 air cargo totaled 71,963,745 lbs., down 3.8% compared to January – May 2019. International air cargo totaled 4,610,411 lbs., down 45.2%. Federal Express carried 37,959,398 lbs., down 4.9%; United Parcel Service carried 13,100,391 lbs., down 13.6%; and Atlas Air carried 9,829,497 lbs.
Air Services transferred 3,288,999 lbs. of mail, down 29%; and 6,488,073 lbs. of belly freight, down 30.6%.
Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 12,602 for January – May 2020, down 30.2%. Combined operations (including commercial and military) totaled 58,072, down 32%.
