AUSTIN, TEXAS – Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) passenger traffic growth for May 2021 was up 745.9% compared to May 2020 with 1,106,710 passengers flying during the month. This marks the first month since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic that AUS passenger numbers have exceeded one million.

Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for May 2021 was 1,106,710, up 745.9% compared to May 2020. May 2021 enplanements totaled 563,827, up 752.9%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 360,316, up 624.5%; American Airlines passengers totaled 266,888, up 610.2 %; Delta Air Lines passengers totaled 169,470, up 1,223.7%; United Airlines passengers totaled 112,714, up 989.6%; Alaska Airlines passengers 59,730, up 881.3%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 50,725, up 2,424.9%; Spirit Airlines passengers totaled 44,496, up 2,469.1%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 20,781, up 302%; Allegiant Air passengers totaled 17,077, up 218.2%; Hawaiian Airlines passengers totaled 3,981; Sun Country Airlines passengers totaled 298; and Swift Air passengers totaled 234.
May 2021 air cargo totaled 18,594,367 lbs., up 36.8% compared to May 2020. International air cargo totaled 24,730 lbs., down 73.6%. Federal Express carried 7,918,030 lbs., up 3.1%; Southern Air carried 4,125,783 lbs.; United Parcel Service carried 2,724,414 lbs., up 16%; and Amerijet International carried 1,865,969 lbs.
Air Services transferred 694,757 lbs. of mail, up 114.9%; and 849,814 lbs. of belly freight, up 79.1%.
Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 3,675, up 34.9%. Combined operations (including commercial and military) totaled 15,849, up 132.5%.
January – May 2021
Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for January – May 2021 was 3,441,921, up 1.1%, compared to January – May 2020. January – May 2021 enplanements totaled 1,727,650, up 2.2%. Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 1,140,253, up 3.5%; American Airlines passengers totaled 761,551, up 14.8%; Delta Air Lines passengers totaled 484,631, up 0.6%; United Airlines passengers totaled 415,179, down 14.5%;Spirit Airlines passengers totaled 181,424, down 13.5%; Alaska Airlines passengers 165,574, up 32.6%; JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 159,962, up 30.7%; Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 79,080, down 34.8%; Allegiant Air passengers totaled 47,639, up 99.8%; Hawaiian Airlines passengers totaled 4,853; Swift Air passengers totaled 946, up 1.9%; and Sun Country Airlines passengers totaled 829, up 28.9%.
January – May 2021 air cargo totaled 88,782,171 lbs., up 23.4% compared to January – May 2020. International air cargo totaled 293,849 lbs., down 93.6%. Federal Express carried 37,099,681 lbs., down 2.3%; United Parcel Service carried 13,263,877 lbs., up 1.2%; Amerijet International carried 9,612,710 lbs.; Southern Air carried 9,566,844 lbs.; and Sun Country Airlines carried 6,841,586 lbs.
Air Services transferred 3,064,241 lbs. of mail, down 6.8%; and 2,993,663 lbs. of belly freight, down 53.9%.
Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 16,996 for January – May 2021, up 34.9%. Combined operations (including commercial and military) totaled 63,323, up 9%.
