FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Release Date: Aug. 20, 2025

AUSTIN, Texas – Today, Viva announced a brand-new destination for Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). Beginning November 20, 2025, Viva will launch nonstop service to Mexico City’s new airport, Felipe Ángeles International Airport (NLU).

“This is another exciting expansion of Viva's nonstop services in Central Texas,” said AUS CEO Ghizlane Badawi. “We are excited to add another way for both business and leisure travelers to get to Mexico City. We can’t thank Viva enough for their continued investment in our community.”

Now a daily connection to Mexico from AUS is possible with the three times weekly service to NLU and four times weekly service to MTY, which operate on alternate days. NLU provides smooth, fast, and the cheapest connections to other points in Mexico, including Cancun, Guadalajara, Mérida, Oaxaca, as well as Colombia and Cuba.

“We are thrilled to continue our expansion into Central Texas. This is a great opportunity to make tourism and trade easier”, said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus. “When arriving in Mexico City, travelers from AUS will also be able to enjoy direct flights to over 40 destinations, including Mexico’s biggest cities and tourist destinations. We encourage you to take advantage of our low fares, modern fleet and unmatched service to explore and get to know our country.”

NLU will be serviced three times weekly on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday on Viva's 186-seat A320.  Tickets are on sale today, August 20, 2025, at vivaaerobus.com.

A train service is also scheduled to begin operating in December, making transportation between the airport and the city even more streamlined.

NLU offers frequent flights to Cancun (CUN), Puerto Vallarta (PVR), Guadalajara (GDL), Monterrey (MTY), Bajío (BJX), Mérida (MID), Oaxaca (OAX) and more.
